FAQ's
Why take a cruise?
If you were to compare a land based holiday with a cruise, you would see why
cruising is becoming popular in a big way! Not only does you initial fare cover
your accommodation and all meals (including in-between snacks) but also
included is all entertainment, lectures, social events and use of the ships
facilities including the fitness centre, casino, cinema.depending on the cruise
ship you choose the list could go on and on.!
There is an outstanding choice when it comes to Cruise Lines - with over 250
ocean going cruise ships visiting nearly 2000 destinations world wide! Cruising
is a year round holiday option - and with such a huge choice there is a ship to
suit everyone..couples, families and singles. Travelling from place to place in
a comfortable, civilised manner, you can be as active or as relaxed as you like
- what other holiday could offer all this and more! Not convinced? Contact one
of our highly trained consultants to discuss your dream holiday.
Aren't all cruise ships and cruises similar?
Not at all! Cruise ships vary in size and quality - just like hotels.
They can carry anything from
under 100 passengers to just
under 4000 passengers. Facilities,
food and service can vary greatly, as does the ambience and entertainment
to name a few aspects of
your holiday. Our team of consultants
is experienced in the different
types of cruises out there - contact us to let us guide you to
the perfect cruise holiday for
you!
Isn't cruising just for older people?
Nothing could be further from the truth. The average age for cruise passengers
is dropping every year. Having said this, cruising is a safe and comfortable
way to travel the world for people of any age. Many people who cruise are
looking for a way to see many places, meet new friends, and cram in as many new
experiences as possible in a relatively short space of time! Now, doesn't this
sound like your kind of holiday?
Stuck on a ship all week?! Won’t I get bored?
Generally, it’s the men who ask this question! Make sure you choose the right ship, for the right reasons and your worry won’t be finding things to do, just the time to do them all! There are more activities on board today’s ships then you would find on most Caribbean islands. If it’s relaxing and being pampered you are after or being on the go non-stop, a cruise holiday on the right ship will be the perfect holiday for you! Let our team help you with your choice – and then enjoy your perfect cruise holiday…

Isn’t cruising too expensive?
In a word…no. Just think of all the extra costs you have on a land based holiday: Food, entertainment, fitness and sports facilities, social activities, educational lectures, the list goes on and on, as does the expense. On a cruise this is all included in your initial payment – what’s more a cruise ship is a destination in itself, which moves to from one amazing destination to another – how fabulous is that?!
Should I book early?
Yes. Not only are the best discounts generally available to early bookers, but
you will get the best choice of cabin and location. By booking late you may get
a low price - but you may not get a choice of cabin, location, or with ships
with two seatings for dinner, your choice of early or late seating.
What will I do if I am seasick?
Seasickness is quite rare now - less than 3% of all passengers suffer with
seasickness.
Most cruise lines operate in warm, calm seas - and all ships have stabilisers
which are large underwater "fins" on each side of the hull - this counteracts
any rolling motion. They also are equipped with modern weather systems, and
most itineraries will leave plenty of time to complete any one leg of a journey
- ensuring that in most cases they can travel around the weather!
If you are unlucky enough to be one of the few sufferers - this still doesn't
mean you cannot enjoy a cruise holiday - here are some tips for combating
seasickness.
When you first notice the movement of a ship, go out on deck and walk back and
forth. You will find that your knees, which are our own stabilisers, will start
getting the feel of balance and counteraction. This is a sign that you are
'getting your sea legs'!
Stroll out on deck to 'take the sea air' - the sea breeze is one of the best
antidotes you can get. When out on deck focus on a steady point - the only
steady point will usually be the horizon!
A natural remedy is ginger in powder form - mix half a teaspoon in a glass of
warm water or milk before sailing - this should settle your stomach for up to 8
hours.
If all else fails - take a visit to the ship's hospital. Most cruise lines will
provide seasickness medication free of charge!
Is cruising formal?
Yes…and no. Again depending on what you want there is a ship to suit your style. On a typical seven-night itinerary you would generally have two casual evenings, three smart-casual evenings and two formal evenings.
Formal can go from anything from tuxedo to a dark suit for men, and from a gown to a cocktail dress for women. Smart –Casual would be a jacket and tie for men and a suit or dress for women Casual is a shirt and trouser for men and trouser suit, skirt and top or casual dress for women.
If you want a more formal or informal cruise – there are ships to suit you. Similary if you are on a cruise with a couple of formal nights and you don’t wish to dress up – there would generally be another option on board. For more advice on choosing a ship to suit your needs – contact our team… |

I have children - is cruising right for me?
Absolutely! There are many ships that have fantastic facilities for families -
but again it is very important to choose carefully as some don't!
Just think.no one has to cook, do the dishes, make the beds or drive from place
to place to find entertainment!. Families can spend time doing what they want
to do - whether together or separately, knowing that they are in a safe,
contained environment.
There are companies who offer different programmes for different age groups,
right up to 17 years. These programmes are run by energetic, experienced and
highly trained staff and will include a variety of activities from games and
sports to more educational (but fun!) pursuits. There will be access to these
programmes every day, and on some evenings the staff will host dinners and
pyjama parties just for the kids. Babysitting is also available on certain
cruises - allowing a night at the casino perhaps? Cruising is also a very good
way to budget your family holiday - your initial payment will often include
your flights, accommodation, and all meals.
This all combined means your whole family will find something to make your
holiday enjoyable and stress free! Call us to discuss your needs and let us
match them with the perfect cruise.
I want to travel on my own - would a cruise be suitable?
Certainly. Cruise ships offer
a safer environment than most land based holidays. There is always
someone to talk to or an event to participate in, but
at the same time if you just
want some time alone, you will be able to find it. Contact us to
see what deals we have for the solo traveller.
What about honeymoons?
Cruising is perfect for honeymoons! What could be more romantic then a stroll on deck with a whole galaxy of stars above you in a perfectly clear sky. Along with all the romance and glamour of a ship at night, you can enjoy long lazy days being pampered in the spa (some ships even have specially designed treatment rooms for couples!) or a fun filled day visiting exotic ports of call, and experiencing exhilarating water-sports and activities. With fabulous food, entertainment and comfortable surroundings a cruise is a perfect honeymoon choice – and will ensure you take home memories to last a lifetime. |

I have a disability - is cruising suitable?
If you choose the right ship cruising is an ideal holiday for
you!Not only will you get to see many places on the one trip - but
also you will only have to pack and unpack once! A cruise ship
is a good place for relaxation and, of
course direct access to the marvellous
sea air. You will find staff on board will be helpful and you
will be in a safe 'crime free' environment. The public
rooms and areas on most ships
will be spacious and there will be varied dining and entertainment
all in the one location! There are excellent medical
facilities on board and many
cruise lines have a number of specially adapted cabins for accessibility.
If you have any specific requirements they can
usually be accommodated - contact us and we will find a cruise to
suit you.
